What on earth is a CLient and why would I use one?
Well, a CLient is a programme that lets you make a connection with a bbs, YAWC BBS's in this case. Usually you telnet in, but when you are on a slow connection it can take quite some time to type stuff. A CLient helps to reduce this so-called lag.
It does this by bufering what you type on your own computer and sending all of it in one go when you are finished. The normal telnet sends each character as soon as you have pressed a button, so you can see how a CLient would reduce the lag.
And believe it or not, CLient users have additional functionality in the BBS. They can use macros, automatically connect to one from a list of BBS's
Wow, cool! I want one then, what's it cost?
The CLient is absolutely for free, you pay nothing. Thousands of satisfied users have been able to reduce their lag by downloading one.
Urrrm, is there one for my system then?
There most likely is, unless you use a Macintosh computer without a PC card. For PC users running Windows 3.x or Windows 95 there are Windows versions and for unix users the latest version is the CLient Pro. If you have a Macintosh there is good news for you though, a version of the CLient for your system will very likely be developed in the near future.

This is the most recent version of the CLient for unix. it incorporates changes to make the CLient work with multiple types of BBSs as well as offer additional functionality to the BBS. This version was developed by Diamond White, Flint and Mathfox and it is based on the version written by Peter Roozemaal.
These are the two most recent versions of the Windows CLients. They are developed by MyLittlePonyTail, who keeps a winCLient development page on Monolith.
The definion of lag.
Lag is the very annoying delay between you typing something and it or its results actually appearing on your screen because of the overcrowdedness of the internet between you and the BBS you are connected to.
It is very important that you download this file as well as a CLient, it contains keybindings and BBS addresses you need.
